Reporter uses Twitter during child's funeral

Technology has allowed reporters to break news literally as it happens, but just because the technology exists doesn’t mean you should always use it. One example of when not to use technology would be the actions of a Colorado newspaper reporter attending the funeral of a three-year old who was killed in a car accident. The reporter thought it would be a good idea to report the events of the funeral as they happen over Twitter according to a report by TechCrunch.

Twittering a funeral — why not?

by Mathew on September 12, 2008 | I have to say I’m a little surprised by all of the hoopla about a reporter for the Rocky Mountain News posting messages to Twitter during the funeral of a young boy. From the sounds of some of the coverage in other newspapers and on various blogs, you would think the guy had shown up with a camera crew and interviewed the grieving family while they were weeping by the graveside, or done a helicopter fly-by.
